This was inspired in a weird, roundabout sort of way by a ST fic I read that mentioned waffles. The waffles were only mentioned once in passing but, yeah - inspiration comes from weird places.
In my mind this happens right at the end of the new movie during the Dramatic Voiceover... just because. And, of course, waffles solve everything (like duct tape, only edible) - it's a given fact.
